Cencenighe Agordino
Cencenighe Agordino is one of the 16 municipalities of Agordino Area. It’s a busy little town with a strategic position just at the crossway between Val del Biois and Val Cordevole.
It has been a commercial village for ages, with many cattle shows but also the prolific activity of the Scalpellini, stonecutters who made works for the towns nearby using the stones extracted by the local mines.
The most important event of the year in Cencenighe is Sagra de Sant’Andrea, at the beginning of Decembre, the celebration of the past habits of cattle trading, which was the main source of life. Nowadays the event is an exibition with lots of local products, handicrafts, as well as gastronomic goods, sculpturers with their works. It is a celebration for children too with many games and animals such as horses, pigs, donkeys…
Today Cencenighe is a lively alpine village with many stores selling the typical products and many trendy bars and restaurants to enjoy some good dishes or a good artisanal icecream, banks, supermarket, shops…
The village becomes particularly busy on Saturday mornings with the weekly market which call people from the nearby towns.
Thanks to its central position Cencenighe is the ideal base for a holiday, because it is only 10 km from Alleghe and the Ski area Civetta, 10 km from Falcade and the Ski area San Pellegrino, 5 km from Canale d’Agordo, birth place of Pope Albino Luciani and 10 km from Agordo, the main town of Agordino and location of the multinational Luxottica.
Cencenighe is the starting point for many excursions, from easy walks through the local hamlets, to high level trekking. The MTbikers will enjoy a lot along the tracks in the woods around the village. Cencenighe is a good place also for the lovers of Vie ferrate on Monte Pelsa.
