San Tomaso Agordino

San Tomaso Agordino, whose centre lies at 1082 m asl is a little charming village with no more than 600 inhabitants overlooking on the underneath Valleys of Biois and Cordevole, the local strems. Surrounded by many small hamlets, it still preserves many tabià, the typical rural burns.

Thanks to its sunny and dominating position it has a wonderful view on Mount Civetta, one of the most spectacular mountain of the Dolomites.

The village is a bit out of the main roads, up to the mountain and this is the positive side of alpine hamlets. But it offers many possibilities for fun.

There is the astronomical observatory founded in 2003.
The most adrenalinic attraction is the Zip Line, a lift which takes people  from one hamlet to the other floating in the air, admiring the beauty of the valley from a high point of view. It is the highest Zip Line in the Dolomites and it is visited by people from all over the world.

Arena 1082 is  a large sport centre with the possibility to practice indoor sports, such as skating, hockey…and it is also used as a conference hall.

The very new attraction is Vertik area, a centre for indoor climbing, with many facilities such as restaurant and solarium.

Another place to visit in San Tomaso is Dolomiti in miniatura, an excursion in the wood dotted with reproductions in a small scale of the best peaks of the Dolomites made in Dolomia rocks.

The traditional festival Sagra de San Tomas, organized on the 1st Sunday of September is the occasion to taste the best dishes of the typical cuisine and the local sweet Fortaie.
